Some technical links from Michael Christopher, the Alliej.com webmaster:

Paintshop Pro is a computer graphics program that many hobbyists truly love, and it is very inexpensively priced.

Macromedia makes the software used for much of the creation of my web site. The Studio MX package, especially Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and Freehand, were all used to bring this wonderful new site to life.

If you want to just play around a little with computer graphics, and have more time than money, try a free download graphics program called GIMP. Originally created for Linux platforms, there is now a wonderful GIMP for Windows. It's a great paint program, with many Paintshop and Photoshop features. Michael recently used GIMP exclusively to create a number of art works that will appear on his own site. He's a huge fan of the Open Source movement, and GIMP is one of those miraculous programs developed by amateurs ("lovers," from the French) that offer absolutely everything for absolutely no cash (like love itself!).

This Web site was built by adapting some truly amazing code written by Pekka Saarinen called Exhibit Engine. Visit Pekka's site if you're interested in adapting this code for artists' sites like this one. The code that makes our lovely translucent popup menu bar near the top of each page was adaped from Tigra Menu, copyright by SoftComplex, Inc. Then there's the art news feed from Topix.net, implemented using JavaScript RSS/XML code from Feed2JS copyright 2004 by Alan Levine. There are also a zillion lines of ingenius code respectfully drawn from many wizened MSAccess programmers that drive the shopping cart engine behind this contraption, but far too many folks to list individually, except, of course, for Tony Toews. Michael sincerely hopes he hasn't forgotten anyone!
